Reagan's Story

Though she be but little... she is fierce. -William
Shakespear

Reagan Jean Hulsebus was born at 22 weeks 4 days gestational
age at 5:43 AM on August 1, 2012. She tipped the scales at a tiny 1 pound
1 1/2 ounces, and was just 10 1/2 inches
long. Though Reagan came into the world much sooner than anticipated, she is
making her presence known. She is a very active micro-preemie, spending much of
her time kicking, punching, and squirming. Reagan has a very long road ahead of
her but she is in the very best hands with a team of and most capable NICU
doctors and nurses anywhere.

Visitors Welcome

Very healthy*, adult, (over the age of 14), visitors are more than welcome to come by and visit Reagan. Either Matt or Emily (and sometimes both) will be with her in the NICU and would love to show off our tiny bundle of joy :) As Reagan is limited to the number of visitors she can have at a time, because access to the NICU is limited, simply text or call Matt (319)470-5951 or Emily (319)470-8441 ahead of your visit to be sure one of us will be here to sign you in.

Right now, Reagan is in Bay 1 of the NICU at The University of Iowa Children's Hospital. The easiest way to get to the NICU is to park in either Ramp 2 or 4, take the level 2 walkway to Elevator I, up to level 6, and follow the signage to NICU Bay 1.

*because Reagan and all of the babies in NICU Bay 1 are in critical condition, it is very important that no one with any cold or flu-like symptoms visit. The tiniest germ or virus could be fatal to NICU babies.
